Hiring Range The University of California, Merced is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.
This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position.
Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The full salary range for this position is $25.

About the Job Under the direction of the Business Operations Manager, essential duties include, but are not limited to: Interaction with students, staff, faculty, and other administrators, including those at other campuses and on occasion, Office of the President.
The position is responsible for front counter customer service, assists department members with administrative tasks/needs, requires excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills to prepare and provide necessary reports, and explicit attention to detail; has access to secure documents and maintains confidentiality; coordinates meetings through complex calendaring and prepares materials for meetings/presentations.
This position trains and guides student workers in processing lost and found property, electronic/bicycle registration and live scan.
Oversight of lost and found property room organization; coordination of public auction for items held over 90 days; follow strict adherence to policy, regulations and laws pertaining to lost and found property; other duties assigned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES This position provides oversight of the department’s lost and found program in accordance with University Policy.
This includes processing items received, submitting/closing out lost and found property reports, ascertaining ownership of items, organization of the lost and found property room, preparation of lost and found items for auction, and prepares lost and found property reports.
This position provides oversight of the department's property registration program.
This includes coordinating property registration events, maintaining program supplies and is responsible for the funds received from electronic registration sales and lost and found auctions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to answering dedicated phone lines, coordinating meetings through complex calendaring, note taking, coordinate travel arrangements, prepare correspondence, and presentation materials; monitor/track projects and develop charts/graphs from data provided by department staff.
Provide assistance with maintaining record retention deadlines in accordance with UCOP policies.
The position is required to maintain confidentiality with regard to what is overheard in conversations, seen in documents and the day-to-day police department processes.
As the Administrative Assistant for police services, position responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating department service requests through “CBS2” and facilities management, submit receipts to process travel reimbursements, process billing/recharges, maintain inventory of department property, maintain department key control, is the liaison with key department vendors and campus partners and assist in coordinating mutual aid requests (local, county, UC and other law enforcement agencies).
The position is custodian for department equipment inventory; oversees maintenance and repair of office equipment, submits work orders to surplus excess items and/or non-operational equipment; orders office supplies, plans activities/events of the department, and assists with logistical support for the EOC/DOC.
This position is required to function independently with minimal guidance, receives limited direction and requires self-initiative, time management, problem solving abilities and follow through skills.
This position provides front counter customer service and is responsible for recognizing fluid front office situations; this includes de-escalating situations when possible and for identifying appropriate resources for the given situation.
The position will train and guide student workers and serve as the back-up to all their duties related to working in the front office.
This position performs fingerprint services through DOJ’s live scan program.
This includes using a live scan electronic system and as required, collecting “ink” hardcopy fingerprints.
The position processes recharges for these services.
Provide training to new Student Service Ambassadors (SSA’s) on assisting with the department’s live scan, lost & found and property registration programs.
Provide public information and instruation at activities and fairs, and at other events approved by the department; maybe assigned to work varied shifts based upon the needs of the department and maybe assigned to work special events or incidents based upon the needs of the department (i.
e.
Commencement).
Other duties as assigned.
Understand and apply University Departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications EDUCATION and REQUIREMENTS High school diploma and/or equivalent certification/experience/training.
Associate degree, 40 Semester Units 60 quarter units of college.
(Preferred) 3 Years of Administrative/Clerical Work Experience.
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Working knowledge in administrative procedures and processes, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Requires verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, multi-task and time management skills.
Consistently reports to work on time with a minimum number of absences.
The position receives limited direction and requires self-initiative, time management, problem-solving abilities, follow-through skills, and the willingness and initiative to take independent action.
Emotional stability and even temperament with a positive attitude.
