Examples of Duties This recruitment is being established to obtain a current eligible list for Extra-Help vacancies.
Extra-Help are not entitled to county benefits and are limited to a maximum of 25 hours per week.
This position will be assigned to work with County CalFire.
Duties may include, but not limited to the following: The Extra Help Student Intern will provide general assistance while gaining valuable work experience.
Assignments will vary depending on the needs of the Department.
Inventory Management: Regularly conduct physical inventory counts to ensure accurate stock levels.
Update and maintain inventory records, including item descriptions, quantities, and locations.
Monitor inventory turnover rates and identify slow-moving or obsolete items.
Replenish stock as needed to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
Coordinate with different departments to understand their inventory needs and preferences.
Implement inventory control measures to reduce waste and theft-Report discrepancies or irregularities in inventory to the appropriate supervisor.
Ordering Supplies: Determine the need for supplies based on inventory levels, consumption rates, and future demand.
Track and follow up on purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
Verify the quality and quantity of delivered items against purchase orders.
Maintain records Identify opportunities for cost-saving or process improvement in the procurement process.
Running Errands: Perform various errands as assigned, such as picking up/dropping off documents, packages, or equipment.
Conduct bank transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers if required.
Collect and deliver mail, parcels, or supplies to and from different locations.
Assist in arranging transportation for employees or visitors, if necessary.
Ensure safe and efficient use of company vehicles if applicable.
Keep accurate records of mileage and expenses related to errand runs.
Follow company policies and safety guidelines while performing errands.
General Duties: Maintain a neat and organized workspace, including storage areas for supplies and inventory.
Communicate effectively with team members, superiors, and suppliers.
Handle confidential information with discretion and maintain data security.
Adhere to company policies and procedures related to inventory, procurement, and errand running.
Stay updated on relevant regulations and industry best practices.
Assist in other administrative tasks as needed.
Cleaning and sanitizing: Sweeping and mopping floors Vacuuming carpets Wiping down surfaces and countertops; cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors; emptying trash bins; and replacing liners.
Dusting and polishing: Dusting surfaces, shelves, and furniture, polishing and cleaning glass surfaces and windows; cleaning and disinfecting door handles and light switches.
Restocking supplies: Refilling soap dispensers, paper towel holders, and toilet paper rolls, replenishing cleaning supplies and trash bags.
Sweeping and cleaning outdoor areas: Sweep sidewalks and entryways, removing debris from outdoor areas.
Handling Recycling: Collecting recyclable materials and placing them in designated bins.
FAMILY CARE LEAVEFamily Care Leave applies to all employees who work 1250 or more hours in any twelve month period.
HEALTH PLANS AND LIFE INSURANCEExtra-help employees are not entitled to County-paid medical, dental, vision, life insurance, Employee Assistance Program benefits and are not eligible to participate in the Deferred Compensation Plan.
JURY DUTYExtra-help employees are not entitled to pay or receive reimbursement from the County for Jury Duty.
PAID TIME BENEFITSExtra-help employees are not entitled to paid bereavement, vacation, or holidays.
PAID SICK LEAVEExtra-help employees are entitled to accrue up to three (3) paid sick days (24 hours) in a 12-month period.
SOCIAL SECURITYExtra-help employment earnings are not covered under Social Security.
Merced County provides an alternate plan - Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS) - for extra-help employees who are otherwise not eligible for participation in the County's retirement system.
COMPENSATION/UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE:The County does provide benefits to those eligible under the State Workers Compensation and Unemployment Insurance statutes.
