The Merced Irrigation District (MID) is seeking a self‐motivated and qualified individual to fill a Legal Intern position.
The Merced Irrigation District (MID) is a public agency, located in California’s agriculturally‐rich Central Valley, is the leading provider of clean, affordable irrigation water for its 2,200 growers.
The District is the 20th largest public utility in the State, supplying electric service to commercial, industrial, and residential customers in Merced County.
The District also owns Lake McClure and Lake McSwain and operates five recreation areas adjacent to these facilities.
Lake McClure, on the Merced River, is formed by New Exchequer Dam, a rock filled dam with a reinforced concrete face.
At the base of the dam is a hydroelectric generation facility with a capacity of 94.
5 MW of power.
MID is within two hours of San Francisco, Sacramento, Monterey, and Yosemite.
The qualified candidate must be a second or third year law student or have recently graduated from a college or university with an emphasis in Law; have demonstrated skill in preparing written and oral reports; have the ability to conduct legal research; ability to communicate clearly and concisely; ability to work with minimal supervision; have the ability to follow oral and written instructions; and have the ability to work cooperatively with others.
The successful candidate should expect to work full‐time hours during summer break and be assigned to work on various projects within the Legal Department.
The ideal candidate will have past experience in water resources, energy, or public agency experience.
