As a member of the Information Technology Services Department, the Network Analyst supports the district's network infrastructure and ensures services are secure, highly available, and meet our students, staff, and community's needs.
Successful candidates should have extensive experience and knowledge in configuring, maintaining, and evaluating IT infrastructure components, work with team members on innovative ideas and practices, and provide excellent customer service to internal and external parties.

General Description: This is an exempt position.
The incumbent will under direction, performs advanced, complex server and network administration functions providing reliable operations, connectivity and functionality that ensures secured wired and wireless system access for District users; monitors, maintains and repairs assigned LAN/Wan, application, telecommunication, infrastructure and various wireless and virtual networks; works closely with other technical staff to maintain network security and integrity.
Examples of Duties Essential Functions: Supports the Director of Technology Infrastructure and Architecture via independent and complex decision making and high-level coordination Installs, configures, manages, monitors, and troubleshoots infrastructures, systems, and servers related to district LAN and WAN Coordinates the operation of the network center Performs complex system administration functions for the server and storage platforms in physical and virtual environments Maintains and monitors network operations and software applications for performance and reliability Documents and updates work progress and problem resolution in technical support/project databases Creates a variety of documents including equipment quotes, reports, technical documentation, and procedures for team use Tracks hardware/software/service assets in an approved management system Coordinates technical support and assistance to end users Participates in a variety of district-wide meetings to represent ITS and discuss technology related issues Acts as technology lead for a variety of district wide large scale technology projects including in the development of strategies and procedures and make recommendations for technology acquisitions Researches topics related to current and emerging technology Assists in disaster recovery functions when necessary Troubleshoots malfunctions of network hardware and/or software applications within local and wide area networks, telephones and security systems Performs related duties as assigned Knowledge of: Technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions Analyzing situations to define issues and draw conclusions Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job including current, legacy and emerging operating systems Project coordination principles Environment and network protocols Basic electronic and electrical theory and practices Router configurations Inter/Intranet applications Windows server software and deployment, installation and deployment of software to computers Hardware and software security systems Storage systems Principles, practices, and methods of systems and network administration and maintenance Enterprise virtualization solutions Operating system architecture, characteristics, commands, and components applicable to computer platforms Network architecture, theory, and principles of network design Concepts of technical communication necessary for documentation purposes Ability to: Schedule activities and/or meetings Gather, collate, and/or classify data Consider a number of factors when using equipment Independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances Work with data utilizing defined but different processes Utilize equipment under a variety of conditions for multiple purposes Utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment Problem solve, analyze issues and create action plans Communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing Convey technical information to non-technical audience Adapting to changing work priorities Display mechanical aptitude Follow complex written instructions Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and colleagues Typical Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required: Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of applicable experience OR Associate's degree AND five (5) years of applicable experience OR The equivalent education and experience PHYSICAL DEMAND AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individual with disabilities to perform the essential job functions Environment: Work is performed primarily in an office environment with some travel to different sites; incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends Physical: Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation Ability to read printed matter and computer screens Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time Ability to bend and twist, stoop, kneel, crawl, push, pull Ability to reach in all directions Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations Ability to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, including use of a computer keyboard Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction Supplemental Information How to Apply: Submit a complete application by the closing date/time on the Merced College career pages at https://www.
