Job Description
Pay Range is $29.
40 to $ 34.
50 per hour.
The Microbiologist will perform and evaluate microbiology procedures applicable to veterinary to microbiology programs, while providing technical skills and instruction to lab technicians.
Maintain lab quality assurance program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiate a retest in response to questionable results from a lab submission.
Notification of customers with laboratory results that are not within prescribed standards.
Consult with manufacturers regarding new procedure implementation.
Creating new reporting formats as requested by a customer.
Prioritization of workload within Animal Health lab area.
Improve lab safety.
Equipment maintenance
With approval prioritization of workloads between animal health and food microbiology.
With approval capital expenditures (over $5000 for a single item).
With approval change in standard lab procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
Performing routine and non-routine lab analyses.
Provide results to the customer in a timely manner.
Reporting includes: Broiler Serology report, Commercial Turkey Serology report, Chicken Breeder Serology report (CA, ARK, CO) and Project Reports (Serology, Animal Health Bacteriology)
Maintain lab QC and check sample programs.
PDRC mycoplasma and avian influenzas check samples.
CAHFS lab reproducibility
Reuse Water Coliform/E.
coli Presence/Absence
Manage lab manuals.
Initiate lab procedures in response to manufacturing and live production technical requests for problem solving.
Evaluate new procedures and equipment.
Maintain state and federal accreditation serology programs for NPIP compliance.
Maintain state and federal accreditation bacteriology programs for USDA compliance.
Provide technical training to technicians.
Purchasing of supplies and equipment for the microbiology lab
QC compliance data by period.
Data collected from new tests or equipment evaluations.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or related science preferred.
Minimum of 5 years laboratory experience in related poultry diagnostics.
Good communication and organization skills.
Experience with computers and associated lab automated equipment used for microbiology.
